Assalaam alikum,
Sorry for the delay. I am still working on gradeing your workbook, essays, and the old test. I will give Sr. Neama the books and papers to give them back to u next week.

In the mean time as I have said in class that u still have to complete one more assingment. The assignmet will be from you work book. Since u do not have it , I will make marks in your work book to show u wish questions u will need to answer. Your answers are to be emailed to me. So, for the time being please read the 3 lessons. You will need to finish the home work by may18th. I know that is noy enough time, but the adminstration needs to calcute the grade in order to puck the top students in the class.

I am glad that I had the chance to teach your class and share with you what I know. I hope that I did not bore you out of your mind, and that you have learned something. I hope to see you all next year.

This week I have went over a new lesson from the Arabic book. As I have noted last week , I collected the book to check to homework.

For next week I plan to wrap up with the Students since it will be my last day with them. I will alsp return the books graded, with any other graded assignments as well.

This week i only got the chance to go over Lesson 17. I have collected the essays and the work book to grade, I will return them to you on Sunday 5/10/09. I will post the answers for by 5/17/09  for you to check and to let me know if I made any kind of miscalcuation with the grades. 

For the last grade, I will assign you to answer questions from the workbook, and email the answers to me for a grade.

Assalaam Alikum,

As we discussed in class, the last day with you will be 5/10. That means I will miss only 2 classes before the graduation.  That means that you will need to hand to me 2 paper assignments before 5/17/09.

1.I will be collecting the workbooks and the 1st paper on 5/03/09.

for home work you need to answer the following:

• lesson 15, answer questions 1, 2, 3, 4 & vocabulary review
• Lesson 16, answer questions 1, 2, 4 &6

for the paper , you need to write about the Kilafah of Umar (RAA). You need to address the following in your paper. If any of these points are missing, points will be taken off your grade.  use the infromation in the book from lesson 3, 9-16. Your paper does not need to me long, just answer the following questions in an essay format that makes sense. Do not use pictures, or funny fonts. Keep it simple.

• What was Umar ibn Al Khattab like before Islam?

• How did he become Muslim?

• What was his role in choosing Abu Bakr to be Khalifah?

• How did Umar (RAA) become Kalifah?

• what did he promise to do for the people?

• Which regions came under the Islamic rule during his Khilafah? How and why did they come under the Khilafah?

• How did he deal with the famine, and the poor of Arabia?

• What did he do when it came to salary of the public officials?

• Answer question # 5 in your work book on page 62.

• how were the non Muslims treated under his rule?

• What did he do to meet the demands of the increasing amount of pilgrims going to Mecca?

2. I will go over lessons 17 &18 on 5/03/09 and lessons 19 &20 on 5/10/09.

3. On 5/10/09 I will give you back your workbooks, and graded test from last time, and the essays. I will also post on the blog the second paper assignment. You will need to email me your paper to fayza.aly.e@gmail.com by 5/17/09 so that I can grade them and send the results to the administration. Any paper received after that will not be graded, and the results will not show in your final grade.

4. I talked with Sr. Kuwthar, She does not know yet who will come to cover the class when I leave. But, for your own good, read the rest of the book. The Khilafah of Ali (RAA)  is very important for you to understand. May be u might need to use the class time to read the book and ask whom ever covering your class questions about anything you do not understand.
